The Tripura government is actively deliberating on the formation of the 8th Pay Commission and will make a decision at an appropriate time, Finance Minister Pranajit Singha Roy informed the state assembly on Tuesday.
Responding to a query from Congress MLA Gopal Chandra Roy during the Question and Answer Session, the minister noted that the central government had proposed the constitution of the Eighth Pay Commission on January 16 this year.
However, he pointed out that no state in the country has taken a final call on the matter yet.
“The Tripura government will also take a well-considered decision at the right time,” he assured.
In response to another question from Congress MLA Sudip Roy Barman, the Finance Minister stated that all necessary financial details had been submitted to the Sixteenth Finance Commission.
He further mentioned that the commission had appreciated the state’s financial health.
Regarding the disbursement of dearness allowance (DA), Singha Roy confirmed that the state government is providing it regularly to its employees and pensioners.
He also emphasized that efforts are being made to narrow the gap between the DA received by state government employees and their central government counterparts.
