CPIM Ex-DyCM’s statue demolished out of public anger, not by BJP: BJP Minister

Refuting the claims of principal opposition parties regarding the demolition of the statue of former CPIM Deputy Chief Minister Baidyanath Majumdar by BJP workers, Tripura Minister Tinku Roy on Monday said that the public had demolished it out of anger due to the misrule of the CPIM.

Roy, who is the Minister of Social Welfare and Social Education, said that the people of Tripura were freed from the Left Front’s misrule after 25 years in 2018 when the BJP formed the government.

“If the CPIM wants to build a statue of Baidyanath Majumdar in front of their party office, we will help them. The statue of Baidyanath Majumdar was demolished due to public anger. Why was the BJP not involved in it? Because the people of Tripura were freed from the Left’s misrule of 25 years. They are only trying to mislead the people,” he said.

Roy said that due to this statue, traffic accidents were happening constantly. Many people had filed written complaints to remove the statue because of frequent traffic accidents. But suddenly, a statue of Shri Ram has been built at that spot. It is not known who is behind the construction of this statue of Ram.

However, he claimed that the statue was not installed by the BJP.
