784 Polling Stations Proposed Across 21 ULBs Ahead of Tripura Civic Polls

The Tripura State Election Commission has completed the draft notification process for polling stations across all 21 Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) in the state, setting the groundwork for the upcoming civic elections likely to be held towards the end of 2026.

State Election Commission Secretary Anurag Sen said the draft polling station notification has been issued for all 21 ULBs, including the Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC), Municipal Councils and Nagar Panchayats.

As per the draft notification, a total of 784 polling stations have been proposed across the state’s 21 urban local bodies.

The respective District Magistrates and Collectors, functioning as District Municipal Election Officers, have notified the draft polling stations within their jurisdictions.

Sen said the Commission has invited claims and objections from stakeholders regarding the proposed polling stations. The deadline for filing claims and objections is September 21, following which the concerned urban local body authorities will examine and dispose of them by September 23.

The final notification of polling stations is scheduled to be issued on September 25, Sen said.

However, the State Election Commission has not yet announced the detailed schedule for the civic elections. Asked about the timeline for completing the election process, Sen said the Commission was currently not in a position to disclose the schedule or related guidelines.

He said the election process involves approval from the competent authorities and completion of several formalities. The detailed election schedule and guidelines will be made public once the necessary approvals are obtained.

The upcoming civic polls will cover 21 Urban Local Bodies across Tripura, including the Agartala Municipal Corporation, Municipal Councils and Nagar Panchayats.
