240 Sarees meant for smuggling Seized in Joint Operation by Police, BSF in South Tripura

In a joint operation, South Tripura District Police, along with personnel of the 69 Battalion of the Border Security Force (BSF), Khedabari, recovered a large consignment of sarees from an abandoned location in the district.

The operation was conducted under the leadership of Sub-Inspector Rupsadhan Jamatia, Officer-in-Charge of SRP Out Post, assisted by police staff and BSF personnel. Acting on specific inputs, the team carried out a search at an abandoned place situated in the Bagantilla area under Gaurangabazar.

During the operation, a total of 240 (two hundred forty) sarees were recovered. As no lawful claimant could be identified at the spot, the recovered items were seized under Section 106 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), following all due legal procedures and in the presence of independent witnesses.

Police officials stated that the seized articles were properly inventoried, sealed, and taken into safe custody for further legal action. Necessary investigation has been initiated to ascertain the source and intended destination of the seized goods.

Further details are awaited as the investigation progresses.
