A tragic incident occurred early this morning in Tripura’s Santirbazar subdivision, where a young man lost his life after being hit by a moving train on the Sabroom–Agartala railway route. The accident took place between Kalapara and Durgaraipara areas, creating panic and shock among local residents.

After receiving the information, Officer-in-Charge Jayanta Das of Manpathar Police Station quickly rushed to the spot and launched a preliminary investigation.

According to police sources, the identity of the deceased youth is yet to be confirmed. The impact of the train was so severe that the victim’s head and face were badly crushed. OC Jayanta Das stated that initial findings suggest the youth was struck by a train travelling from Sabroom to Agartala.

Local residents believe the victim may have gone out for a morning walk and accidentally came too close to the railway tracks while walking along the line. Residents also mentioned that similar train accidents had claimed two lives in the same area in the past.

On receiving the news, firefighters from the Santirbazar Fire Service reached the scene, recovered the body, and sent it to Santirbazar District Hospital for post-mortem examination.

The incident has cast a shadow of grief across the locality. Police have registered an unnatural death case and started a detailed investigation into the matter.
