Serious allegations of domestic violence, mental and physical harassment, and extramarital relationships have been levelled against a lawyer from Bishalgarh, triggering concern in the locality.
The accused, Rajib Prasad Das, is a member of the Bishalgarh Bar Association and resides in the Kabar Khola area near Bishalgarh Police Station. His wife, Tanisha, has accused him of subjecting her to physical and mental harassment after their marriage and maintaining relationships with multiple women.
According to Tanisha, the couple got married around a year ago. She alleged that gold ornaments, furniture and other articles worth several lakhs of rupees were given as dowry at the time of their marriage.
Tanisha further claimed that her husband had been involved in relationships with several women even before their marriage and that such relationships continued afterwards. She alleged that Rajib had relationships with women from different areas, including Agartala and Udaipur. She also claimed to possess evidence related to these alleged relationships on her mobile phone.
According to her allegations, tensions escalated after the matter came to light, following which she was subjected to harassment. She further alleged that she was eventually forced to leave her matrimonial home.
The couple's divorce proceedings are reportedly pending before a court.
Expressing her concerns, Tanisha said it was unfortunate that a person belonging to the legal profession, who is expected to uphold justice and fight against wrongdoing, was facing such serious allegations from his own wife. She called for a fair and impartial investigation into the matter and urged the authorities to take appropriate legal action.
Tanisha also appealed for steps to ensure that no other woman has to face a similar situation. She maintained that the truth should be established through a proper investigation and that appropriate action should follow if the allegations are substantiated.
The allegations have not been independently verified, and the accused's response was not available at the time of writing.
