Justice T. Amarnath Goud of the Tripura High Court on Saturday praised the state’s continued success in resolving disputes through Lok Adalats, as the first regular session of 2026 began with widespread participation and high expectations across districts.
Speaking at the inaugural sitting after visiting the Agartala court complex, Justice Goud noted that Tripura has consistently recorded an impressive settlement rate of 70 to 80 percent in Lok Adalats, placing it among the better-performing states in alternative dispute resolution.
“Today marks the first Lok Adalat session of 2026. Judicial officers, police personnel, representatives of government departments and court staff are all working in coordination to ensure speedy resolution of cases,” he said.
According to official data, approximately 23,600 cases were taken up statewide during this round. In West Tripura district alone, nearly 5,000 cases were listed for settlement. To manage the workload, 28 judicial officers were deployed in the district, including five assigned specifically to the West District courts to accelerate proceedings.
Expressing confidence in the process, Justice Goud said the authorities are optimistic about achieving close to an 80 percent disposal rate once again.
“Tripura has consistently delivered strong results in Lok Adalat settlements, and we expect this session to maintain that positive trend,” he added.
