Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha emphasized today that the state government is actively implementing developmental initiatives through the Minority Welfare Department, while also addressing issues inherited from the previous administration. He made these remarks at an award distribution ceremony recognizing academic excellence among students from minority communities at Pragya Bhavan.

Speaking at the event organized by the Minority Welfare Department, Dr. Saha stressed that minorities encompass Muslims, Christians, Buddhists, Sikhs, and Jains. He highlighted the significance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s words and policies, stating, “India’s rise on the global stage is not just rhetoric—it is a result of Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, and Sabka Prayas. Our focus is on the welfare of all Indians, and people trust the Prime Minister’s vision.”

Dr. Saha pointed out that issues like triple talaq had long been neglected by previous leaders, but Prime Minister Modi took decisive steps to abolish it, ensuring social rights for women from minority communities.

He also noted reforms in Waqf Board governance under the current government, including increased transparency and the inclusion of women, which were previously barred from participating. “Since the BJP-led government came to power in Tripura in 2018, there has been a sense of security among the people. The rule of law has been firmly established,” he said.

The Chief Minister detailed several initiatives under the Minority Welfare Department: scholarships for students, construction of student hostels, development of madrasas, infrastructure improvements in minority-dominated areas, and skill training programs for unemployed youth aimed at financial self-reliance.

Addressing past governance, Dr. Saha remarked, “The previous government left numerous unresolved cases, creating a financial burden. They created problems; we are solving them. The previous government fostered terrorism, which we have brought back into the mainstream. We are committed to instilling proper morals in the younger generation. The days of immoral conduct are over.”

The ceremony was attended by Minority Welfare Minister Shukla Charan Noatia, MLA Tafazzal Hossain, Tripura Waqf Board Chairman Moboshar Ali, Tripura Minorities Cooperative Development Corporation Limited Chairman Mohammad Jasim Uddin, Tripura State Haj Committee Chairman Shah Alam, Minority Welfare Department Secretary Tapas Roy, Director Nirmal Adhikari, and other dignitaries.
