A serious road accident in Santirbazar subdivision on Tuesday left two motorbike riders critically injured, highlighting the growing number of road mishaps in the region.

The incident occurred near the Santirbazar Tri-Junction when a Tata Tigor car (registration number TR 01 BW 0498), coming from Agartala towards Santirbazar, reportedly lost control and crashed into two motorcycles parked along the roadside.

The affected bikes were a Pulsar (TR 08 H 6713) and a Splendor (TR 08 F 5362).

The injured riders have been identified as Dinesh Das (30) from Kolabaria and Bapi Das (24) from Maichhara. The force of the impact threw both men onto the road, causing severe injuries.

Locals quickly responded and rescued the victims, taking them to Santirbazar District Hospital. Due to their worsening condition, doctors later referred them to GB Hospital in Agartala for further treatment.

Police from Santirbazar station, along with a forensic team, arrived at the scene and began an investigation. Initial reports suggest that overspeeding or driver negligence may have led to the accident.

Authorities noted that the car is registered under the name of Dr. Pradip Paul. However, the driver reportedly fled the scene immediately after the crash. Some locals have alleged possible police involvement in helping the driver escape, though officials have not confirmed these claims.

An investigation is ongoing, and residents are awaiting strict action against those responsible.
