A scooty rider sustained serious injuries after a truck allegedly rammed into him in the Rabipara area of Malayanagar, triggering tension among local residents. The truck driver and his associates reportedly fled the scene immediately after the accident.
The injured man has been identified as 38-year-old Abhidas. According to locals, he was travelling through Rabipara on his scooty when the truck collided with him. Due to the impact, he was thrown onto the road and suffered serious injuries.
The accident also damaged a Pulsar motorcycle, which was reportedly badly wrecked in the collision.
Residents who witnessed the incident rushed to the spot and helped rescue the injured rider. He was subsequently taken to GBP Hospital in an autorickshaw for medical treatment.
On receiving information, personnel from Srinagar Police Station reached the spot and took stock of the situation. Police have launched a search for the truck driver and his associates, who allegedly escaped following the accident.
The truck involved in the incident bears registration number TR01X1741, while the injured person's scooty is registered as TR03K8077. Another vehicle bearing registration number TR01B9659 was also reportedly involved.
Police have initiated an investigation to ascertain the exact circumstances leading to the accident and trace those who fled the scene.
