Tripura Police recorded a major breakthrough in its anti-narcotics drive over the past 24 hours, seizing drugs worth approximately Rs 1.5 crore and arresting six individuals in Dhalai district’s Ambassa subdivision.

The latest operation follows another significant seizure on December 15, when police apprehended four persons from Dharmanagar in North Tripura and Kumarghat in Unakoti district with narcotics valued at over Rs 4 crore.

According to Dhalai District Police, acting on specific intelligence inputs, Ambassa Police conducted two successful operations late on Monday night. In the first incident, a white Maruti WagonR was stopped at the Upanagar Naka on National Highway-08. A search of the vehicle led to the recovery of 45 grams of suspected brown sugar (heroin) along with 20,000 YABA tablets.

In a separate operation near the Ambassa Fire Station, police recovered an additional 24 grams of suspected brown sugar hidden inside soap cases.

All six accused have been taken into custody, and separate cases have been registered at Ambassa Police Station under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. Police officials stated that investigations are ongoing.

Reaffirming its commitment to curb drug trafficking, Dhalai Police said it would continue to intensify enforcement efforts against narcotics networks operating in the region.
