The Tripura government has stepped up efforts to ensure the timely completion of tourism development projects and improve modern facilities for visitors at major historical, cultural and natural destinations across the state, Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury said on Tuesday.

Chowdhury made the statement while presiding over the 40th meeting of the Board of Directors of the Tripura Tourism Development Corporation (TTDC) at the Secretariat.

During the meeting, the minister reviewed the progress of several ongoing tourism projects, including the Matabari Circuit Project, development works at Amarsagar Lake and initiatives at Dumbur Reservoir. He also reviewed plans for setting up floating restaurants at Neermahal and Chobimura, aimed at offering visitors improved amenities and a more memorable tourism experience.

The minister also took stock of the construction and renovation of tourist lodges at various locations across the state. He directed officials to ensure that development works are completed within the stipulated timeframe so that tourists can avail themselves of comfortable, quality and modern facilities at major destinations.

Chowdhury also sought a detailed assessment of the current financial position of the Tripura Tourism Development Corporation, including its income and expenditure, and reviewed the corporation's overall financial management.

Tourism Department Secretary Uttam Kumar Chakma and Director Prashant Badal Negi briefed the minister on the progress made in implementing decisions taken at the 39th meeting of the TTDC Board of Directors. They also apprised him of ongoing tourism development activities and the corporation's financial status.

Finance Department Secretary PK Goel, Principal Chief Conservator of Forests RK Samal, Chief Architect of the Public Works Department Anup Kumar Das, Deputy Secretary of the Home Department Hena Debbarma and other senior officials attended the meeting.

The government said the initiatives are part of its broader efforts to strengthen tourism infrastructure, improve visitor amenities and enhance the overall tourism experience at Tripura's prominent destinations.
