Tripura Police today have announced extensive security measures for the upcoming Durga Puja celebrations, including the deployment of 7,750 additional personnel, installation of 320 new CCTVs, and the establishment of 241 police assistant booths across the state.

Speaking at a press conference at the Police Headquarters, DGP Anurag outlined the comprehensive security plan for this year’s festivities.

“We have made massive arrangements to ensure law and order during Durga Puja,” he said.

The DGP also highlighted that security will be strengthened in border and sensitive areas through joint patrolling.

“Additional forces will be deployed across both rural and urban areas. This year, around 2,965 Puja events will take place across the state, marking a 10% increase from last year’s 2,750. All organizing clubs have been instructed to obtain No Objection Certificates from SDPO, Fire Services, Power, and Police departments,” he added.

The deployment includes 6,550 Tripura State Rifles personnel, 380 additional non-executive police staff assigned to district units, 400 women police officers, and 920 trainee recruits, bringing the total additional forces to 7,750.

Security measures will include fixed pickets, foot patrolling, and mobile patrols using 215 additional vehicles. The number of CCTVs has increased from 216 last year to 320 this year, and Puja committees have been requested to install their own cameras to monitor crowds closely.

“All district SPs, OCs, and SDPOs have conducted meetings and assured full cooperation. Wireless networks will operate 24/7, watchtowers will be installed at key locations, and traffic diversion plans have been implemented across the state. In Agartala, no-entry zones will be enforced from 5 PM to 1 AM. The Emergency Response Support System (ERSS) will also be operational round the clock at 112,” the DGP confirmed.

These measures aim to ensure that devotees can celebrate Durga Puja safely while maintaining law and order throughout Tripura.
