Senior All India Trinamool Congress leader Kunal Ghosh was granted bail on Monday by the District and Sessions Court of Gomati district in connection with a 2021 case related to a speech delivered in Agartala.

According to his lawyer, Ghosh had addressed a Trinamool Congress public rally in Agartala on October 31, 2021. Following the event, a complaint was filed at R.K. Pur Police Station alleging that some remarks made during his speech had hurt religious sentiments.

After completing the investigation, police submitted a charge sheet before the court. Ghosh later approached the District and Sessions Court in Gomati district seeking bail in the matter.

The bail petition was heard on Monday, during which Ghosh personally appeared before the court. The court subsequently granted him bail, his lawyer said.
