A group of TET (Teacher Eligibility Test) job aspirants were detained on Monday after they gathered outside the Chief Minister's residence in Agartala demanding the immediate release of their examination results.
The aspirants, who had not taken prior permission for the gathering, were picked up by police and taken to the AD Nagar police lines.
According to the protesters, candidates from across the state had assembled to express their grievances directly to the Chief Minister after failing to receive any assurance from the authorities, including the Chairman of the Teachers’ Recruitment Board.
The aspirants, who had appeared in TET-I and TET-II, said their examinations were held a long time ago but the results have yet to be published.
“We went to Shiksha Bhavan several times and even met the chairman, but got no clear response. So we came here with the hope of meeting the Chief Minister,” said one of the examinees.
Additional Superintendent of Police Dhruv Nath confirmed the detention, stating, “The group did not have prior permission to assemble or meet the Chief Minister. As a precautionary measure, they were taken to the AD Nagar police lines.”
The aspirants have called on the state government to expedite the result declaration process and address their growing concerns over delayed recruitment.
