At least six people were injured in a horrific road accident in the Bamutia Block area on Monday morning, triggering panic and anger among local residents.

According to eyewitnesses, a speeding Bolero SUV rammed into an autorickshaw in front of the Bamutia Block Office. The impact severely damaged the front portion of the autorickshaw, leaving the driver and one passenger trapped inside the wreckage.

Locals alleged that emergency services, including the fire department, disaster response personnel, and police, failed to reach the spot for a considerable period after the accident. Residents themselves carried out a rescue operation and, after nearly one and a half hours of effort, managed to free the trapped victims before sending them to a nearby hospital for treatment.

The driver of the Bolero reportedly fled the scene immediately after the collision and remains absconding. Police have launched an investigation, but no arrest has been made so far.

The incident has sparked outrage in the area, with residents raising concerns over reckless driving and the alleged delay in the response of the authorities. The accident has once again highlighted the need for stricter road safety enforcement and quicker emergency response mechanisms.
