A Tripura Police constable posted at Salema Police Station in Dhalai district has been suspended after a video allegedly showing his wife displaying a large amount of cash went viral on social media.
Following the circulation of the video, police launched an investigation and detained six individuals, including the constable and another police personnel.
According to police officials, those detained are constable Pijush Debbarma, his wife Nandu Rani Debbarma, Ajit Debbarma (48), Menaka Debbarma (45), Rajesree Debbarma (38), and Sanjana Debbarma (34). Authorities said the incident, recorded on a mobile phone, triggered immediate action after it spread widely online.
Inspector General (Law and Order) Ipper Manchak Dnyonba stated that a case has been registered and an inquiry is underway. Senior police officials also held a meeting on Saturday to review the matter and discuss further legal action.
