Allegations of selling expired medicine have surfaced against a medical store at Laltila under North Ramchandraghat in Tripura's Khowai district, triggering concern among local residents over the lack of regulatory oversight.

According to allegations, a resident of Kaminipara purchased medicine for his child from Maa Kali Medical Hall. After the child consumed the medicine, the child's health reportedly deteriorated further. On checking the packaging, the family allegedly found that the medicine had expired in December 2025.

The customer subsequently approached the medical store over the issue. The incident has sparked outrage among local residents, who alleged that inadequate monitoring has led to the operation of unregulated medicine shops in several areas.

Residents also questioned the role of the Drug Inspector, alleging that the apparent lack of regular inspections may have allowed an expired medicine—whose shelf life ended around eight months ago—to remain on sale. They demanded a fair investigation into the incident and called for appropriate legal action against the proprietor, identified as Tapas Kumar Deb, if the allegations are found to be true.

No official statement has yet been issued by the health authorities or the concerned medical store regarding the allegations.
