The Election Commission of India has formally approved a revised schedule for the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls in the state of Tripura, deferring the previously planned timeline in light of the upcoming General Elections to all Village Committee constituencies under the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council.

The decision was communicated through an official communication dated September 9, 2026, addressed to the Chief Electoral Officer of Tripura, in response to a request from the state election machinery seeking postponement of the revision exercise.

The revised schedule now sets the preparatory phase, including training and printing activities, from October 27 to November 5, 2026, followed by house-to-house verification by Booth Level Officers between November 6 and December 5, 2026. The rationalization and rearrangement of polling stations is to be completed by December 5, 2026, with the draft electoral roll scheduled for publication on December 12, 2026. Citizens will have the opportunity to file claims and objections from December 12, 2026, until January 10, 2027, while the disposal of these claims, along with the notice phase, will continue until February 9, 2027. The final electoral roll will be published on February 15, 2027, with January 1, 2027, serving as the qualifying date for enrollment.

The Commission’s directive comes as a response to the state’s request for deferment, ensuring that the revision exercise does not clash with the electoral processes related to the TTAADC elections.
