Asserting that the CPI(M) has regained significant political ground in Tripura, Leader of the Opposition Jitendra Chaudhury on Tuesday said the party is firmly on track to return to power.
He accused both the ruling BJP and its ally Tipra Motha Party of failing to deliver on development and governance.
Chaudhury, who also serves as the CPI(M) state committee secretary, stressed that the strength of a political party must be measured by its connect with the grassroots, not by its proximity to power corridors in Delhi.
“Alliances and tea meetings in Delhi mean little. The reality is on the ground,” he remarked.
Taking a swipe at Tipra Motha chief Pradyot Kishore Manikya Debbarma, Chaudhury referred to the royal scion's recent statement threatening to approach the Supreme Court over delayed village council elections. “The BJP is in alliance with Tipra Motha. Who are they trying to fool? While they play political games, the CPI(M) continues to stand firmly with the people,” he said.
He alleged that the BJP has not only alienated indigenous communities by disrespecting their culture, traditions, and language but has also shown disregard for the Bengali language.
“The BJP’s IT Cell head Amit Malviya has gone as far as to deny the existence of the Bengali language. This narrative is not only false but offensive. The BJP-RSS alignment with Tipra Motha has yielded no developmental outcomes. In contrast, the CPI(M)'s clarity and consistency are finding renewed support among the masses,” he added.
According to Chaudhury, growing tensions between BJP and Tipra Motha leaders reflect their internal struggle for political survival.
“For a period, the CPI(M) may have been pushed back due to misinformation, but we are now witnessing a revival. The party is regaining trust, and I am confident the CPI(M) will return to power soon,” he declared.
