In a big boost for Tripura’s pineapple industry, as many as 18 Letters of Intent (LoIs) were exchanged, with a cumulative business value of approximately Rs 11 crore, during the Buyer-Seller Meet on the second day of the Tripura Queen Pineapple Global Festival 2026, said Agriculture and Farmer's Welfare Minister Ratan Lal Nath today.
Minister informed that the second day of the Tripura Queen Pineapple Global Festival 2026 witnessed enthusiastic participation from policymakers, industry leaders, buyers, exporters, and entrepreneurs, further strengthening the market potential of Tripura's renowned Queen Pineapple.
The day's proceedings commenced with the live broadcast of the Prime Minister's Mann Ki Baat, which was attended by the Chief Minister of Tripura, Prof. Dr. Manik Saha; Agriculture & Farmers' Welfare Minister Ratan Lal Nath; and Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha) Rajib Bhattacharjee, along with senior officials and participants of the festival.
The highlight of the day was the Buyer-Seller Meet, held at 4:00 PM, which was inaugurated by the Union Minister for Agriculture & Farmers' Welfare, Shivraj Singh Chouhan. The inaugural session was also graced by the Agriculture Minister of Tripura, Ratan Lal Nath; Rajya Sabha MP Rajib Bhattacharjee; and Sunita Rai, Deputy General Manager, APEDA.
Addressing the gathering, the dignitaries emphasized the immense potential of Tripura Queen Pineapple in domestic and international markets and highlighted the importance of strengthening value chains, market linkages, processing, branding, and exports to enhance farmers' income.
The Agriculure minister informed that the Buyer-Seller Meet brought together 40 buyers from different parts of the country, providing an excellent platform for direct interaction between buyers, producers, exporters, Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs), and entrepreneurs. The event received an overwhelming response, resulting in the exchange of 18 Letters of Intent (LoIs) with a cumulative business value of approximately Rs 11 crore, marking a significant milestone in promoting the commercial prospects of Tripura Queen Pineapple.
He said that the successful outcome of the Buyer-Seller Meet reflects the growing confidence of the industry in the quality and marketability of Tripura's Queen Pineapple and is expected to create new marketing opportunities, improve farmers' income, and boost the state's agri-export ecosystem.
“The Tripura Queen Pineapple Global Festival 2026 continues to serve as a vibrant platform for showcasing the state's premium horticultural produce while fostering partnerships among farmers, entrepreneurs, processors, exporters, and institutional buyers from across the country”, said the minister.
