Serious allegations have emerged against Dharmanagar District Hospital in North Tripura after objectionable items were reportedly found scattered across different parts of the hospital premises, sparking concern among local residents and patients’ families.
According to sources, used contraceptives, discarded drug syringes, empty foreign liquor bottles, and other suspicious materials were recovered from areas near the OPD section of the hospital. The discovery has triggered widespread criticism, with many questioning the safety and security of the healthcare institution.
Residents alleged that the hospital campus turns into a gathering spot for anti-social elements during the evening hours. Locals claim that alcohol consumption, drug abuse, and other unlawful activities are frequently taking place within the premises, raising serious concerns over administrative monitoring and security arrangements.
The incident has also brought the hospital administration under scrutiny. Medical Superintendent Dr. Bhaskar Das stated that the matter had not previously come to his attention. However, he assured reporters that a detailed inquiry would be conducted and appropriate action would be taken against anyone found involved.
The allegations have generated strong reactions from the public, as thousands of patients and attendants visit the hospital every day. Citizens have questioned how such activities could continue unchecked inside a major government healthcare facility.
Many residents blamed weak security measures and administrative negligence for the worsening situation. Patients and their families expressed anxiety over the deteriorating atmosphere inside the hospital, saying it has affected the sense of safety and dignity expected from a public healthcare centre.
Civil society members and local residents are now demanding an immediate investigation, stricter surveillance, and enhanced security measures to prevent anti-social activities and restore public confidence in the hospital administration.
