Tripura is now moving towards solar energy, and by this month all the offices of the eight Sabhadhipatis will be covered under solar power.

This was said by Power Minister Ratan Lal Nath today after he chaired the 29th Governing Meeting of Tripura Renewable Energy Development Agency (TREDA) at Geetanjali Guest House.

The Minister said that today’s governing committee meeting of TREDA was held, where all the 8 Zila Sabhadhipatis are members, along with the Secretary (Power) and the Director of TREDA were present.

“In the last meeting, what we have done, what decisions were taken and what we will do next based on that, a plan was made. Especially, we are giving stress on power. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also highlighted the success of TREDA and solar power in Tripura in his Mann Ki Baat. He also highlighted the Reang area, where we have provided electricity using a solar microgrid. Under PM-KUSUM, Tripura is in the number one position. We want to maintain the number one position in India. We are working more to help farmers through PM-KUSUM. We don’t want any land to remain uncultivated. One farmer told me that due to PM-KUSUM, he is cultivating many vegetables,” said the Minister.

The Minister further informed that, against the target of 10,000 under PM-KUSUM, TREDA has completed 5,000, and over 4,000 kani of land has been covered, with more work in process.

“Under the PM-DevINE scheme, where electricity has not reached, we are providing microgrids to supply power under the PM-DevINE scheme free of cost, and also arranging drinking water systems. Now everything depends on electricity and solar. We are slowly moving towards solar energy. All the offices of the 8 District Magistrates have been completed with solar panel installations. Today, we have decided to install solar power in all the offices of the Sabhadhipatis of the 8 districts by this month. We are moving towards green and clean energy. We have taken suggestions from the Sabhadhipatis. The Sabhadhipatis of all 8 districts are happy as all their suggested work related to TREDA has been completed,” said the Minister.
