As many as 45 complaints related to political violence were registered at police stations across Tripura following the 2026 Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) elections, the State Home Department informed the Assembly on Monday.

The information was provided in a written reply to a question raised by Tipra Motha MLA Ranjit Debbarma.

According to the department, police have arrested 17 accused persons in connection with the cases registered after the elections, and all of them were produced before the appropriate court.

The MLA also sought details on whether political leaders or workers were compelled to leave their homes as a result of post-election political violence.

Responding to the query, the Home Department said that no political party leader or worker had been forced to leave their residence due to political terrorism.

However, police records showed that following the announcement of the 2026 TTAADC election results, 36 individuals temporarily left their homes and took shelter at the Shaheed Bhagat Singh Youth Home in Agartala for a few days.

The department said the individuals later returned to their respective residences. It further stated that all 36 people are currently living peacefully in their homes.

The figures were disclosed in the Assembly amid questions over the law-and-order situation and reports of political tensions following the district council elections.
