16th Finance Commission visits Ziro Valley of Arunachal Pradesh

Ziro Valley, Arunachal Pradesh – A ten-member delegation from the 16th Finance Commission of India, headed by Smt. Annie George Mathew, visited the scenic Ziro Valley in Lower Subansiri District today.

The team was warmly received by the District Administration at Hapoli, where they held meaningful deliberations with members of the Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs) and Heads of Departments (HoDs).

The visit aimed to assess the on-ground implementation of key flagship schemes and understand local challenges and developmental priorities. The delegation toured several significant sites, including the Integrated Aqua Park at Tarin, the sacred Shivalinga at Kardo, and the picturesque Seeh Lake in Birii.

Highlighting the region’s cultural richness, the team visited the traditional Apatani home of Shri Tilling Duri in Hong Village, engaging directly with the local community. The itinerary also included a stop at the Naara Aaba Winery, India’s first organic kiwi wine producer, where they interacted with the founder, Smt. Tage Rita—an acclaimed entrepreneur from the region.

The visit concluded with a vibrant cultural evening hosted by the District Administration, featuring traditional performances that showcased the unique heritage of the Apatani tribe.
