A new era in healthcare began today in the capital of Tripura as the Santiniketan Digital Hospital Global Mission – 2026 was officially launched by the State Health Minister. Spearheaded by the Positive Barta Foundation, this initiative blends technology with compassion, aiming to redefine healthcare delivery not just across India, but globally.
With the powerful message “Distance is Dead,” the mission unveiled its ambitious Vision 2030—to establish 100 tele-labs across 20 countries and deliver modern, quality healthcare services to nearly 500 million people by the end of the decade.
This global mission introduces several transformative initiatives:
Two Global Hubs:
Agartala will be developed as the digital healthcare capital of Southeast Asia, while Bolpur is envisioned as the “Digital AIIMS of the Global South.”
Six Core Tele-Services:
Telemedicine, telepathology, teleradiology, tele-ICU, tele-education, and AI integration will enable patients to access specialist consultations from home, receive diagnostic reports within 30 minutes, and benefit from predictive healthcare insights.
10,000 ‘AI Didi’ Initiative:
Trained women health workers will extend primary healthcare services to the remotest villages. Additionally, the SD Market platform will ensure affordable access to life-saving medicines.
This large-scale initiative is supported by key partners including the governments of Tripura and West Bengal, BSF, WHO, the United Nations, and technology partner Ekdunia. The Tripura Santiniketan Medical College & Hospital (TSMCH) and Santiniketan Medical College & Hospital (SMCH), Bolpur, will function as the digital command centers of the mission.
Speaking on the occasion, Chairman of Positive Barta Foundation, Malay Pit, said:
“We are not just delivering healthcare—we are establishing healthcare as a fundamental right. A child in a remote African village and a farmer in Bengal will receive the same quality of care and dignity. What begins in Tripura on May 5 will echo globally from Bolpur on May 13.”
The official inauguration of the SMCH Global Hub will take place on May 13, 2026, in Bolpur, where the much-anticipated Sundarban Digital Health Model will also be unveiled.
