Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha today chaired a high-level review meeting at the TIFT Conference Hall in Agartala, focusing on the state’s preparedness and ongoing response to recent weather-related disruptions.

He reaffirmed that the government is fully geared to manage disaster situations with coordinated action and rapid relief measures, prioritizing public safety above all.

The Chief Minister noted that District Magistrates across all districts are actively engaged in managing the evolving situation.

Dr Saha stressed the need for heightened vigilance and continuous monitoring as several parts of the state have been experiencing heavy rainfall over the past few days.

“Yesterday there was rain accompanied by thunder, and today as well the state has witnessed rainfall. We reviewed the overall situation across districts, including road blockages, waterlogging, damage to schools and Anganwadi centres, as well as the status of electricity, drinking water supply, and the condition of dams. The objective was to assess the extent of impact on people due to the ongoing weather conditions,” Dr. Saha said.

He further reviewed the relief and response measures already undertaken by the administration. According to him, District Magistrates have taken appropriate and timely action wherever required. He also confirmed a fatality in Longtharai Valley due to a lightning strike, adding that compensation support is being processed for the affected family.

The Chief Minister highlighted that all key agencies are working in close coordination. The Chief Secretary is continuously monitoring the situation, while the Director General of Police Anurag is overseeing security and field response. The SDRF teams and various line departments are actively engaged in relief operations across affected areas.

“The most important aspect is awareness and preparedness. Everyone must remain alert. Just like last year during heavy rains, the administration is once again fully mobilized. However, we need to be even more cautious this time,” he added.

Chief Secretary J K Sinha, senior officials from various departments, and all District Magistrates attended the meeting. The Chief Minister also directed officials to continuously assess the situation arising from recent rains and storms and ensure prompt assistance wherever needed, reinforcing the government’s commitment to quick and effective disaster response.
