Tripura Police have arrested a youth in connection with an alleged rape of a minor girl in the Maiganga area under the Krishnapur Assembly constituency.
According to police, a complaint concerning a minor girl was received at Teliamura Police Station from the Maiganga area. Considering the sensitive nature of the complaint involving a minor, police initiated prompt action.
An investigation was launched under the leadership of Teliamura Police Station’s Woman Sub-Inspector Sumitra Debbarma. Following the preliminary investigation, police arrested the accused youth on suspicion of involvement in the alleged offence.
A case, numbered 53, has been registered at Teliamura Police Station under Section 65(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Section 4(2) of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
Police said the arrested accused was subsequently produced before the court. Further investigation into the allegations is underway based on the complaint filed by the minor.
The incident has caused tension in the Maiganga area.
