In a heartwarming turn of events, a young woman gave birth to a healthy baby boy aboard the Kanchanjunga Express on Thursday as the train journeyed through the Ambassa–Kumarghat section in Tripura.

The mother, 23-year-old Ketki Nagesiya, was travelling with her family from Agartala to Pakur in Jharkhand.

A resident of Barpani under Kisko Police Station in Lohardaga district, Ketki is a labourer who had been working in Agartala. She unexpectedly went into labour while in coach S/9 of the train.

Due to the swift response of the Government Railway Police (GRP), Railway Protection Force (RPF), and Commercial Management Personnel (CMP), the situation was handled with urgency and care.

As the train reached Dharmanagar station in North Tripura district, railway officials immediately sprang into action.

A railway doctor quickly attended to Ketki and her newborn, examining their condition and recommending further medical care.

An ambulance, promptly arranged by the RPF, transported the mother and baby to the nearby Civil Hospital.

Officials confirmed that both mother and child are in stable condition and receiving appropriate medical attention.
