The Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) has extended financial assistance of Rs 3 lakh to the family of the late Anjel Chakma.
The support comes following a request from Tipra Motha Party founder and royal scion Pradyot Kishore Manikya Debbarma.
Chief Executive Member (CEM) Purna Chandra Jamatia personally handed over the cheque to the bereaved family at their residence, honoring the council’s earlier commitment.
“This is our moral duty to stand with the family in this difficult time,” CEM Jamatia said, assuring that the TTAADC administration would continue to provide support if needed.
Anjel, aged 24, passed away in Dehradun on December 9 after being attacked. Reports suggest that he and his brother were subjected to racial abuse, including being called ‘Chinese,’ by intoxicated men.
