A significant step towards strengthening sustainable agriculture-based livelihoods for rural women in Tripura was taken with the signing of a non-financial Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Tripura Rural Livelihood Mission and SeSTA – Seven Sisters Development Assistance for a period of three years.
The partnership aims to empower rural poor women associated with Self-Help Groups (SHGs) by promoting sustainable agriculture practices and creating improved livelihood opportunities across the state.
Under this collaborative initiative, TRLM and SeSTA will jointly support around 20,000 SHG members through capacity building, climate-resilient farming practices, skill development, and livelihood enhancement activities. The initiative is expected to strengthen economic empowerment and promote self-reliance among rural women.
Officials stated that the collaboration reflects a shared commitment towards inclusive rural development and sustainable livelihood generation, particularly for women in vulnerable communities. By focusing on agriculture-based interventions, the initiative seeks to improve household incomes, enhance food security, and encourage environmentally sustainable farming practices.
The MoU is expected to play a vital role in expanding opportunities for rural women entrepreneurs and fostering long-term socio-economic development in Tripura.
