Tripura VC Elections: Ballot Printing Underway; Election Duty Personnel to Vote on Sept 22-23

The Tripura State Election Commission (SEC) has begun printing ballot papers for the upcoming Village Committee elections under the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC), while arrangements are being made to facilitate voting by personnel deployed on election duty.

According to the SEC, officials engaged in election-related duties, including civil administration personnel, police and Tripura State Rifles (TSR) personnel, will be able to cast their votes through the prescribed postal ballot process on September 22 and 23.

Speaking to the media, SEC Secretary Anurag Sen said Returning Officers would make necessary arrangements for election-duty personnel to exercise their franchise before polling day.

He explained that personnel assigned to election duties would have to submit the prescribed Form 15 to the concerned Returning Officer. Based on the form, the Returning Officer will issue the ballot paper, enabling the officials to cast their votes on September 22 and 23.

“Civil officials, police and TSR personnel and officials of different ranks who are engaged in voting or other Village Committee election-related duties will be able to vote through this process,” Sen said.

Meanwhile, training for polling personnel is continuing across different blocks. Sen said the first phase of randomisation of polling personnel has already been completed, while the first round of training has also been conducted.

The Commission has set a target of completing the second round of training by September 22, he added.

Sen further said ballot printing is currently underway at the Government Press. A dedicated team has been assigned to the work and the Commission expects the printing and delivery of ballot papers to be completed within the stipulated timeframe.

The Village Committee elections under the TTAADC are scheduled to be held on September 28, while counting of votes will take place on October 5.
