Tripura Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha today criticized opposition parties for spreading misinformation and emphasized that the police have been given full authority to maintain law and order and are performing their duties diligently.

Dr. Saha’s remarks came after opposition leaders claimed that the state government and Tripura Police did not act promptly following a clash in the Rampur–Bishnupur area under Bishnupur police station in West Tripura district, which erupted over a dispute related to land allocation, leading to property damage and unrest.

The Chief Minister stated that upon learning of the incident, he immediately spoke with Minister Tinku Roy, who represents the area, and contacted local authorities to ensure peace was restored.

“I also reached out to the Superintendent of Police and the District Magistrate to take strict action against those involved. As per the latest reports, five individuals have been arrested in connection with the incident,” Dr. Saha said.

Responding to allegations of police inaction, the Chief Minister asserted that law enforcement is actively addressing such situations across the state.

“The administration is treating the recent unrest in Rampur very seriously. Similar conflicts had occurred in other districts during previous governments, leading to casualties, yet there were no effective responses then. It is important not to politicize such incidents unnecessarily. The police are performing their duties and have apprehended the offenders,” he added.

Dr. Saha concluded by reiterating that the state government’s priority is to ensure peace, safety, and harmony across Tripura.
