Tripura Police Detain Two on Suspicion of Drug Trafficking

In a significant move against narcotics operations, Tripura Police of Sonamura Police station have detained two youths for their alleged involvement in drug trafficking.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Abbas Mia, also known locally as Rahul or Bhuttu (24), and Shafik Mia (30), both residents of Bholamura under the Sonamura police station.

Police sources report that the duo had long been under suspicion, with multiple allegations of drug dealing and smuggling circulating in the area. Acting on a credible tip-off, officers initiated a targeted investigation and reportedly uncovered several critical pieces of evidence linking the pair to illegal activities.

Following the findings, both individuals were taken into custody. Police officials confirmed that appropriate charges will be filed, and the accused are expected to be produced before the court soon.

Authorities also stated that intensified anti-narcotics drives will continue across the region as part of ongoing efforts to curb illegal drug operations.
