Tripura Police have arrested two individuals in connection with the violence that erupted in Shantir Bazar village, Kamalpur sub-division, Dhalai District, following a 24-hour bandh called by the Tripura Civil Society.
A senior police official confirmed that the arrests were made late Saturday night. “The police conducted a raid in the Maharani area under Salema police station and apprehended Riaz Debbarma. During his transfer to the station, a crowd attacked the police vehicle, causing damage. Additional personnel were deployed to manage the situation, and the accused was safely taken into custody,” the official said.
Another individual, Ratnadeep Rudrapal, was arrested from Shantir Bazar on suspicion of involvement in the bandh-related unrest.
“Both suspects are currently being interrogated. A thorough investigation into the clashes that occurred on October 23 is underway, and legal action will be taken against those responsible. The situation in the area is now under control, with police maintaining a close watch,” the official added.
