Tripura has marked a significant milestone in grassroots governance by delivering an exceptional performance in the Panchayat Advancement Index (PAI) 2.0, the results of which were announced by the Ministry of Panchayati Raj on February 2, 2026.

Evaluated for the financial year 2023–24, Tripura’s Gram Panchayats showcased outstanding administrative efficiency and transparency, emerging as a national model in decentralized governance. All 1,176 Gram Panchayats in the state participated in the assessment, achieving 100 percent data submission and verification at the block, district, state, and central levels—an achievement unmatched across the country.

Panchayat Minister Kishor Barman stated that Jugal Kishore Nagar Village Committee under Jampuijala RD Block in Sepahijala district secured the top position nationwide, scoring an impressive 88.44—the highest among nearly 2.5 lakh Gram Panchayats across India.

“This remarkable success reflects Tripura’s strong commitment to effective Panchayat governance and development,” the minister said.

Adding to the state’s achievement, South Nalchar Gram Panchayat of Nalchar RD Block in Sepahijala district secured the third rank nationally with a score of 88.14, while Chesrimai Gram Panchayat under Charilam RD Block of the same district claimed the fourth position, scoring 87.85.

The results underscore Tripura’s growing leadership in strengthening local self-governance and delivering efficient grassroots administration at the national level.
