Tripura Lok Sabha Member of Parliament Biplab Kumar Deb on Monday met Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, and held discussions on four major roadways, including the proper maintenance and repair work of a stretch of National Highway 08.

National Highway 08 connects Tripura with the rest of the country via Assam.

On Facebook, Biplab, who is also the former Chief Minister of Tripura, said, “Today, I met and discussed with Honourable Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari ji, four major issues, including the proper maintenance and repair work of the section from Churaibari to Panitilla in the North District of National Highway NH-8, and the completion of the same on a priority basis.”

“We have also discussed the upgradation of the Udaipur–Phulkumari (NH-8) to Amarpur (NH-208) road under the National Highway in Gomati District, expansion of the road from Ranibazar Fire Service to Agartala ISBT to four lanes (including a service road) in the West District, and the declaration of the Kamalpur–Shantik Bazar road (148 km), passing through Ambassa–Gandacherra–Amarpur, as a National Highway,” he said.

Deb further stated that realizing the importance of these issues, the Union Minister assured to take necessary steps soon.
