In his letter, the MLA stated that the prolonged absence of permanent headmasters has significantly affected the quality of education and disrupted the administrative functioning of the schools. He described the institutions as being "without guardians," making it difficult to maintain discipline, implement academic programmes, and ensure smooth day-to-day administration.
According to the letter, both the Headmaster and Assistant Headmaster posts are vacant at Gaurangatilla Higher Secondary School, Ratanpur Higher Secondary School, and Ampura Higher Secondary School. Meanwhile, the Headmaster's post has remained vacant for a long time at Baijalbari Higher Secondary School and Birchandrapur Higher Secondary School.
Debbarma also pointed out that the only Assistant Headmaster at Boro Moydan Higher Secondary School is scheduled to retire in September, which could further deepen the administrative crisis. In addition, KMR High School, Debendra Choudhury High School, and Wandalwang High School are also functioning without permanent headmasters.
The MLA acknowledged the Chief Minister's recent foundation-laying ceremony for a new building at Baijalbari Higher Secondary School, calling it a welcome initiative. However, he stressed that infrastructure development alone cannot improve the education system.
"Without competent and permanent leadership, it is difficult to ensure effective academic and administrative management in schools," Debbarma said.
Parents and local residents have also expressed concern over the prolonged vacancies, warning that continued delays in appointments could erode public confidence in government schools and adversely affect students' future.
Seeking urgent intervention, the Tipra Motha legislator appealed to the Chief Minister to expedite the appointment of permanent headmasters in all nine schools to restore a healthy academic and administrative environment in the constituency.
