Tripura Human Right body seeks report on harassment, caste oppression at RIPSAT

The Tripura Human Rights Commission (THRC) has directed the Director of Medical Education, Government of Tripura, to submit a detailed report within three weeks regarding a complaint filed by Prof. Dr. Nilimanka Das of the Regional Institute of Pharmaceutical Science & Technology (RIPSAT), Agartala.

In his complaint, Prof. Das alleged harassment in the official environment and caste-based oppression by Mr. Rishi Raj Chhetree, Principal In-Charge of RIPSAT.

The professor has also sought the restoration of his dignity as a faculty member of the government institution.

After perusing the complaint, the Commission, headed by Justice Arindam Lodh (Chairperson), deemed it appropriate to seek a factual report from the Director of Medical Education before taking cognizance of the matter.

The THRC has asked that the report be submitted within three weeks, and the case has been scheduled for further consideration on November 18, 2025.
