Tripura Panchayat Minister Kishor Barman represented the state at the two-day “Departmental Summit on Water” organised by the Ministry of Jal Shakti, Government of India, at Sushma Swaraj Bhavan in New Delhi.

The summit, chaired by Union Jal Shakti Minister C. R. Patil, brought together ministers, secretaries and senior officials from the Centre and several state governments to deliberate on critical issues concerning water management and security.

During the summit, discussions centred on water conservation, sustainable management of water resources, drinking water security, rejuvenation of traditional and existing water sources, and the effective implementation of the Jal Jeevan Mission.

Minister Kishor Barman shared Tripura’s experiences and progress in the water sector while also highlighting the challenges faced by the state. He took part in deliberations on adopting successful practices from other states to improve water resource management and strengthen the availability of safe and reliable drinking water across Tripura.

The summit also provided an important platform for states to exchange experiences, share innovative approaches and explore practical solutions to emerging challenges in the water sector.

Emphasising the need for greater public participation in water conservation, Minister Barman said that protecting and preserving water resources is a collective responsibility. He reiterated Tripura’s commitment to the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “Har Ghar Jal” initiative and to contributing towards the larger goal of a water-secure, prosperous and developed India.
