Bringing festive cheer ahead of Durga Puja 2025, the Tripura Government has announced a special ration distribution scheme for nearly 9.90 lakh families across the state.

Under this initiative, ration cardholders will receive free suji (semolina), wheat, and sugar through the Public Distribution System (PDS).

The scheme, launched under the guidance of Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha and the leadership of Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs Minister Sushanta Chowdhury, mirrors last year’s successful festive allocation. Distribution will begin in October 2025, ensuring families receive their supplies before the celebrations.

According to the official statement, the government has earmarked 896 MT of suji, 1,982 MT of wheat, and 990 MT of sugar, amounting to a subsidy of nearly ₹7 crore. Each ration cardholder will be entitled to 500 grams of suji, 2 kilograms of wheat, and 1 kilogram of sugar—completely free of cost.

The expenditure includes:

  • ₹0.65 crore for suji

  • ₹2.58 crore for wheat

  • ₹3.18 crore for sugar

  • ₹0.60 crore for transportation & handling

Describing the initiative as a “people-oriented step” and a “humble gift from the government,” the statement emphasized that the supplies will be available at all fair-price shops before the festival.

Authorities have urged beneficiaries to collect their entitlements on time and cooperate with ration dealers to ensure a smooth, hassle-free distribution process, so that every household can celebrate Durga Puja with joy and abundance.
