In the run-up to Independence Day, Tripura’s Director General of Police (DGP) Anurag Dhankar on August 13 inspected the preparations for the grand parade to be held at the Assam Rifles Ground. This year’s event will see the participation of around 16 platoons, comprising both security and non-security contingents.
Although the full dress rehearsal scheduled for the day had to be called off due to heavy rain and waterlogging, the DGP expressed confidence in the readiness of the participants.
“Today we came to witness the full dress rehearsal, but due to rain and waterlogging, the training had to be cancelled. However, our personnel have been practicing for the last 20 days, and I am confident the parade will be excellent. I was here yesterday as well, and both security and non-security platoons are well-prepared,” said DGP Dhankar.
The main Independence Day celebration will take place on August 15 at Assam Rifles Maidan, where Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha will hoist the national flag at 9:10 am, inspect the combined forces parade, and take the salute.
The day will begin with a vibrant morning procession at 5 am, followed by the national flag hoisting at 7 am across all government offices, educational institutions, Anganwadi centres, and municipal and local bodies. Students from various schools are also set to enthrall the audience with colourful cultural performances, adding to the festive spirit of the occasion.
