Tripura Congress MLA Birajit Sinha has filed a case against Minister Tinku Roy in the court of the Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) of Unakoti district.
According to Sinha, Roy allegedly concealed information about criminal cases pending against him in the mandatory election affidavit submitted during the polls. He argued that such nondisclosure constitutes a violation of election rules and undermines democratic transparency.
The case was filed in the CJM court by advocate Narsingh Das, with assistance from Youth Congress leader and lawyer Pujan Biswas.
Speaking to reporters outside the court, Sinha stated that in the past, elected representatives have been disqualified for similar offenses. He emphasized that concealing criminal information is not merely a technical lapse but a serious breach that strikes at the core of electoral transparency.
The matter is currently under judicial consideration. The court will examine the allegations and decide on дальней legal steps based on its findings.
