The Tripura Pradesh Congress Committee on Wednesday organized a protest rally in Dharmanagar, condemning the November 26 attack and arson at the Dharmanagar District Congress Bhavan, as well as the assault on party worker Promesh Malakar. The rally was led by Pradesh Congress president Ashish Kumar Saha.
Beginning from the Congress Bhavan premises, the procession moved through several key roads of the town before circling back to the party office.
In light of recent tensions, the police administration strengthened security arrangements throughout the area to prevent any untoward incidents.
Several senior leaders were present during the protest, including Pradesh Congress Committee general secretary Abdul Basid Choudhury, North Tripura district Congress president Digbijay Chakraborty, Pradesh Committee leaders Chayan Bhattacharjee and Kabel Nandi, and State Youth Congress president Nilkamal Saha, among others.
The Congress leadership demanded the immediate arrest of those responsible for the attack on the Dharmanagar Congress Bhavan and insisted on exemplary punishment for the perpetrators. They warned that failure to take swift action would compel the party to launch a larger, statewide movement.
