Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha has urged for focused support to address the state's connectivity limitations, border-related challenges, and workforce skill gaps during a NITI Aayog interaction with North-Eastern states.
The meeting, chaired by NITI Aayog Vice Chairperson Ashok Lahiri, brought together Chief Ministers, Chief Secretaries, and senior officials from all eight North-Eastern states to discuss regional development priorities and future growth strategies.
Highlighting Tripura’s unique geographical position and extensive international border, Dr. Saha stressed the importance of strengthening trade and transport infrastructure, including rail links, air services, and integrated check posts, to improve economic opportunities.
He identified bamboo, rubber, textiles, pharmaceuticals, tourism, and sports as key sectors with significant growth potential and called for greater investment in skill development, innovation, value addition, and export-oriented initiatives.
The Chief Minister also emphasized the need to further improve healthcare and educational facilities, while noting that Tripura has already prepared its ‘Viksit Tripura’ vision document as part of its long-term development roadmap.
