Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha today said the state government will take a decision on the possible closure of schools due to winter only after receiving a detailed report from the Meteorological Department.
Addressing concerns raised by the public, the Chief Minister said that many people have been speaking about shutting down schools because of the cold weather.
“The matter has come to my notice. I have asked the Meteorological Department to inform me about how the temperature is likely to be in the coming days. Based on that report, we will take a decision,” he said.
Dr Saha emphasized that while the safety of students is important, continuity of education must also be ensured. “Shutting down schools is not the priority. We have to continue the studies of students as well,” he stated.
He further informed that a related file has already reached him, but he has directed officials to first consult the Weather Department. “People are saying that the temperature may drop further. If such a situation arises, then of course we will declare necessary measures,” the Chief Minister added.
Dr Saha also said that after receiving the weather report, the government will consider what steps can be taken, especially for younger school-going children, keeping their health and safety in mind.
