The Tripura unit of the BJP has announced that it will begin preparations for the upcoming Village Committee (VC) elections, while the final decision regarding the party’s strategy will be taken by its central leadership.

The announcement comes after the Tripura State Election Commission informed the Supreme Court on Tuesday that VC elections are scheduled to be conducted in September, ending a gap of 10 years.

State BJP president and MLA Abhishek Debroy said the party would proceed according to guidance from the central leadership in Delhi. He noted that although the party has sufficient time to prepare, key decisions on election strategy will be made after consultations with the national leadership.

“What I understand is that the Village Committee elections will be held in September. We still have time, and as a national party, several decisions will be taken in consultation with the central leadership in Delhi. At this stage, I cannot reveal the strategy, but discussions will take place,” Debroy said.

He further added that the state unit will begin groundwork and participate in the election process as directed by the party’s central leadership.

“Everything will depend on the leadership in Delhi,” he said.
