Tripura BJP MLA declares himself poor, refused to help poor family

In a shocking turn of events, Tafazzal Hossain, the BJP MLA of Boxanagar under Sepahijala District, has found himself at the center of controversy after reportedly refusing to help a local family in dire need of medical assistance.

Despite his status as a popular MLA and his lavish annual cricket match events funded with crores of rupees, Hossain allegedly declared that he was "poor" and could not assist the family financially.

The incident revolves around the plight of 15-year-old Purna Das, a boy from Ward No. 6 of Boxanagar Kalsimura, who has been suffering from a complex disease since the age of six.

His treatment, which costs between Rs 7000 every month, has become a severe financial burden for his family.

His father, Sudhangshu Das, is a daily wage laborer, while his mother, Jayanti Sarkar, has been desperately seeking help for her son's treatment.

In a bid to secure medical assistance, Jayanti Sarkar approached MLA Tafazzal Hossain with her son, hoping for support.

However, in a shocking response, the MLA reportedly told her that he was "poor" and suggested that she seek help from the Chief Minister, Dr. Manik Saha, or former Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb.

He allegedly turned her away, offering no financial assistance despite the availability of funds through the MLA's constituency fund.

Jayanti Sarkar, left in a state of helplessness, turned to the media to raise her concerns.
