Tripura's Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Minister Sushanta Chowdhury held a courtesy meeting with Assam's Food, Public Distribution and Consumer Affairs Minister Kaushik Rai at the Tripura Secretariat on Saturday to discuss ways to further strengthen the public distribution system and improve food security services.

During the meeting, Minister Chowdhury briefed his Assam counterpart on the overall functioning of Tripura's Public Distribution System (PDS), the implementation of food security programmes, and various initiatives undertaken by the state government to enhance service quality, ensure transparency, and strengthen accountability.

The two ministers also exchanged views on several key issues aimed at delivering more efficient, transparent, and citizen-friendly food distribution services to people. The discussions focused on adopting best practices and improving the effectiveness of food supply mechanisms for the benefit of the public.

Minister Chowdhury reiterated the Tripura government's commitment to safeguarding public interest and stated that efforts would continue to modernise the food and public distribution system, making it more efficient, transparent, and people-centric. He expressed confidence that such inter-state exchanges would contribute to better governance and improved public service delivery in the food and consumer affairs sector.
