Tripura Police of Baikhora police station in South Tripura arrested a 36-year-old man late Friday night in connection with the alleged sexual assault of a minor in the Jolaibari area.

According to Baikhora police station Officer-in-Charge Bishnu Chandra Das, a complaint was received around 10:30 pm on Friday alleging that a minor girl from Jolaibari had been raped. Following the complaint, police immediately initiated a preliminary investigation, which indicated that the allegations appeared to be credible. Acting promptly, a police team conducted a raid and arrested the accused within a short time.

The accused has been identified as Bikash Nama (36), a resident of West Jolaibari. 

He is reportedly employed at the Jolaibari Community Health Centre and is married with one child.

Officer-in-Charge Das stated that a case has been registered as Case No. 1 under Sections 65(1) and 351(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), along with Section 4 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

The minor victim has been sent for a medical examination. Police sources further disclosed that the girl is reportedly around two months pregnant.
